Moose

Sad and lonely, I, Moose, roamed the streets with my family nowhere in sight and no place to call home.  A gentleman had spotted me trying to stay warm in the cold winter weather and called the Hobart Animal Shelter to report me as a stray.  Although nobody came to claim or adopt me there, I was grateful that the shelter had provided me with food and a warm place to stay for a few days.  I have since been placed in a foster home through LWR.  I was a little scared at first, but am adjusting well now.
Considering that I am only two years old, I am quite a big boy, weighing around 100 pounds.  The good news is that the vet thinks I am full grown; the bad news is that I think I am a lap dog.  J  I love romping around with my foster brothers, so I would prefer to have a four-legged-sibling in my forever home.  As much as I like to play with dogs, I also like to cuddle with you for a nap, or chew my bone while you hold it for me.  I also enjoy playing fetch, and am currently working on learning how to “drop it.”  I am completely house trained, and even sleep in my own big boy bed at night next to my foster parent’s bedside.  I have a tendency to growl when I am scared; this is just my way of communicating to you that I feel threatened and need some space.  I may look intimidating, but deep down I’m a really sweet, loving dog and wouldn’t want to hurt anyone.  I need a family that will understand that it’s going to take me some time to build my trust in them, but I promise I will come around.  Will you be that family for me?  I would prefer not to live with little kids or cats.  I am getting used to spending time in my crate when mom is at work. I am being fostered in Highland IN (south of Chicago).

Wyatt
Hi everyone interested in a handsome-4-year-old-male-Weimaraner. My name is Wyatt.  I wish I could tell you about my life up to this point, but I can’t.  So, we’ll start with my foster mom picking me up from a humane society last Monday.  I have been having the time of my life ever since.  I play with other Weimaraners and get to run outside in the dog yard.  I sleep under the bed with a blanket, and sometimes nap on a dog bed in the evening.  I use a doggie door to do my business outside, and I am proud to say that I have only had 2 accidents in the house.   Those really shouldn’t count because it was my first night here, and I was really confused.  My foster mom says that I am very smart and learn knew things very quickly.  I know how to sit too!  I am very curious about the cat that lives here with all of us.  He doesn’t get very close to me, but I’m pretty sure that I would chase him if I got the opportunity.  I’m pretty outgoing and will greet everyone at the door with a big smile on my face.  I am getting used to staying in my crate during the day while my foster family is gone to work or school.  I do have a small issue that I need to work on.  If I get out of the house without a lead or not in the fenced dog yard area, I don’t always come to someone when called to.  I’ve been told that my recall skills are not where they need to be, but I promise I will work hard to improve that small flaw.  I am up-to-date on all of my shots, neutered, and I am on Interceptor so the heart worms stay away from me.  If you like what you read about me, and are interested in a great guy, please come to visit me in Argos, IN.

Neva
My name is Neva.  It's easy to be jealous of me. I’m funny, sassy, I like adventure, I’m competitive, and good looking. I greet the mornings with my fabulous yoga poses, eat a healthful breakfast, then I am ready to run and romp the day away.  I take my "jobs" very seriously, and I’m always looking for something else to do. I love to end the day with a belly rub or a good cuddle. I learn quickly, retain what I’ve learned, and like to show off and flaunt my stuff.  I’m 1.5 yrs old, spayed, up to date on vaccines, and looking for an active family to adopt me.  It would be a bonus if they were wanting to dip their toes into more extensive training and try to show me off in competition- agility, rally, tracking, hunting- you name it, I’m game. I have been started on basic as well as more advanced obedience exercises, beginning agility obstacles, birds, and I love to use my nose to track. This girl walks the walk and talks the talk!  I love having canine companions to romp with and chew on, but I can be bossy at times. No cats, small furry pets, smaller dogs, or children for this girl. I would love it if my new owners were home more than they were away because I suffer from separation anxiety. While I do listen well off leash, I need to have a fenced-in backyard and cannot be left alone in it (I can climb chain link fences faster than you can blink an eye!) I would thrive in a home that understands the needs of a young female Weimaraner, has training knowledge, and is able to provide me with fair, yet gentle leadership. It's hard not to give in to those big puppy dog eyes... I am currently being fostered in Muncie, IN and I have a blog!  www.simplyneva.blogspot.com

Koby

Caught you looking…that’s okay because I am great to look at!  Now that I know you are interested let me tell you a little about me so you can understand how lucky you would be to have me.  My name is Koby and I am 8 years old, but I have the body and spirit of a 3 year old which is really cool because I am a well behaved man with a puppy spirit.  I like other dogs and have a really good time playing with them, but I am also very content to be the only dog in the house.  If I am the only dog, I can be the king of the couch…well unless you already are the king in that case you will need to move over to allow room for the new “prince”.  One thing, though, you will need to know about me is that I do not like cats, not at all, and to be honest they really bother me.  So if you have a cat, I would not be a good match for you.  I am sorry about that, but I thought you should know before you got too excited about meeting me.  I am currently living with my foster family near Louisville and the woman of the house had me “snipped”, whatever that means I am not really sure but it was painful.  At my foster home, I live in the house, but that has not always been the case.  For a lot of my life with my previous owner, I was stuck outside and to tell you the truth I really prefer being inside.  I am fully trained to include house trained, crated trained, couch trained and treat trained.  I am pretty good about obedience, but I would love someone to teach me some more things and someone who loves to go on walks with me. Finally, if you have any of those two legged things, kids, I think they are called, living in your home; I like them and think they are pretty cute.  I also like that they are really good about leaving treats on the floor…Yummo!  I know I have given you a ton of information, but I am hoping that telling everything about me will help me find my new love.  I was going to try match.com but my foster mother put a password on the computer, so this was my only option.  If you want to meet me, you can contact my foster mom to schedule a time to meet me in person.

Hi Weim lovers! My name is Parker and I am a 2-1/2 year old, very small, but full of love, gray male. I have had a very rough life so far, but my foster parents say I am coming along very well. As far as they know I was owned by a couple who separated and the person that kept me let me run free. I was running on other property and I was hit by two bullets in which one went through the flap of my ear and the other into my mouth. I had to have a tooth extracted because of this. Overall I am healing very well and I am starting to come out of my shell. So, here are some perks about me! I love to go for walks, play outside, snuggle, and play with my other Weim friends. I also love to be brushed and be scratched. I am still a little shy around men, but eventually I do warm up to them as I gain their trust. I am crate trained but I do not like it and I will do anything possible to escape. Now my foster parents let me stay out in the house when they are not home and I do very well. I am still working on my obedience commands, but in time and with patience I will master them. I am current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, started on preventative and neutered. I do well with older children and other dogs, preferably other laid back, older ones. I do NOT like cats because every time I see one all my hair stands up and I want to go after them! I am very human oriented so I will follow you everywhere. I would love a home that my owner or owners are home most of the time. LWR hopes to hear from you soon to set up a time to visit with me. I am in the Cincinnati area. My picture is coming.

Ashton
Hi, my name is Ashton, and my birthday is 15 Jan 2005.  I am neutered, up to date on my vaccinations, micro chipped, heart worm negative and on preventative.  I came into rescue with my litter mate because we were scared of the family toddler, and so our family didn’t want us anymore.  I guess they had different priorities than my sister and I had.  I am a typical Weim male – I love attention, I’m affectionate, I love people and other dogs, and I require a good deal of exercise for my energetic side.  I don’t want to live with cats, and I sure don’t want to live with any kids under 10.  At my previous home, I was allowed to be loose in the house when no one was home.  I was crate-trained as a pup though.  My sister has already found her forever home, and I would really like to have one too.  I am being fostered in Shelbyville IN if you would like to meet me. **Adoption Pending**

Bear
Hi! I'm Bear! My name suits me well, as I am a VERY large Weim. I came into foster care recently, and am adjusting well. I was picked up off the street by a kind lady, but unfortunately her situation changed, and she was not able to keep me. I had been penned up for quite awhile, and was very anxious to exercise! I currently live with 2 other Weims and a doxie. I don't really mind any of them, well, except one other male here, but he started it! I hear he doesn't really get along with any of the "newbies,” just so the record is set straight--it has nothing to do with me! I listen pretty well to basic commands, I come when called and crate OK at night. I have had no accidents in the crate either. My foster parents are pretty sure I was an outside dog. I have seen the cat in the barn, and have chased her, but meant no harm for sure. But I may be better suited with a home that does not have any cats. I'm a pretty laid-back guy. My hobbies are taking long nature walks, swimming in the lake and escaping the enclosures any chance I get. Soooo I need a large fence or really good supervision. (But even when I escape, I'm always just hanging out in the front yard! Hey I know where the food's at!) I'm smart, and a very quick learner!  I also love to be rubbed and be the center of attention.  I really like to catch my foster mom off guard, I stick my head in between her legs from behind when she's walking or standing still, I have no preference, just trying to get some extra love! I need a home with no children under the age of 10 and an experienced owner. Come hang out with me in Berry KY, I'd love to meet ya!

Gabe
Hi!  My name is Gabe. Have you had your kiss today?  I am a 6 –year-old, incredibly handsome guy.  When my foster mom came to get me I didn’t look nearly this handsome.  I had a very bad sunburn on my nose, so my nose peeled for over a week. My foster mom had to really nurse it. Now I have a pretty pink nose - I think it just makes me stand out from the rest. It’s great to be unique.  I weigh 88lbs right now, but I am doing great on my diet to get rid of my love handles.  I was kept outside all the time at my old home, so I was very dirty and needed a good bath and brushing.  Now I look and feel great!  Even though I was left outside, I have very good manners in the house.  I am house-trained and love the great posh indoor life.  When mom and dad are gone, my Weim sisters and I get the run of the house, and we always make sure everything is nice and tidy before they return.  I love to play fetch and run in the back yard, so those few extra pounds are just going to fly off.   I really enjoy playing in the backyard and chasing the squirrels also. My foster mom thinks that it may not be a good idea for me to live with a cat. I may try to chase it or even enjoy a nice kitty snack.   I was brought into this wonderful rescue with my brother, Cooper, who also needs a forever home now.  I live with my two Weim sisters in Indianapolis. They are crazy, but I love playing with them.  My foster mom and dad think that I would do great in a home with another dog or more; they also think that I would be a great family dog.  Did I mention I LOVE KIDS??  I have a foster sister who is just 8 months old - she is one of the humans though. She is great. I love to give her kisses and listen to her giggle!  As much as I love to run and play, I am still kind of a home body. I really like to be with my foster parents and snuggle with them. At night when it’s time to turn in, you can find me on my bed right next to their bed. Well, that is, if I didn’t manage to sneak into their bed.  If you are looking for a buddy that will stick by you through thick and thin, I AM YOUR GUY!  I am up-to-date on all of my vaccinations, neutered, micro chipped, and also on heart worm preventative.  Come visit me at my foster home in Indianapolis, and see if I could be your forever friend. I promise to give you all the kisses and snuggles you need!

Kaiser
Hey! I'm Kaiser - a friendly, neutered 5-yr-old male. I'm searching for my forever family. You are out there aren't you? Ideally my family will have lots of room for me to run with both 2 legged and 4 legged brothers and sisters. I came to my great foster home in April, thanks to Mary Ann who transported me from a kill shelter just in the nick of time - I was due to go down! I was an owner-surrender along with my two sons. Luckily they went to another Weim rescue and are doing fine. I know some basic commands such as “sit,” “stay,” “lay down,” and “shake.” Although I'm crate trained, it’s not my favorite thing. Currently I'm crated when my family leaves the property.  Oh by the way, I'm house trained, and sometimes think I'm a lap dog. I'm not sure about cats as we don't have any regulars at the farm, but I sure like the new calves. I forgot to tell you that I'm current on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Won't you consider all my great qualities to make me yours forever?  I am being fostered in Osgood IN. **Adoption Pending**

Macy
My name is Macy and I've lived in a loving home my entire life. My mom and dad brought me home when I was 6 weeks old and I turned 6 years on March 20th.  My parents brought home a two-legged baby in January of this year. While I think the baby is pretty cute and I like the way her feet taste when I lick them, it seems she gets all of mom's attention. Now mom barely has time to take me for regular walks, much less rub my belly or take me on a car ride to the park. Life was great while mom was on maternity leave, but since she's gone back to work, I'm not getting enough attention and my condition is getting the best of me. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with epilepsy, which means I occasionally have seizures. I take 2 medications to control my condition: phenobarbitol and potassium bromide. I have to get these medications twice a day, at the same time. They cost about $25 a month. I absolutely love car rides. Even though my coat is super soft, for whatever reason, my parents won't let me on the indoor furniture. They will, however, let me lay on the outdoor furniture, so one of my favorite things to do is curl up next to them on the porch and pretend to be a lap dog. I'm a queen of comfort, so I'm happiest when I have a super comfortable bed to sleep on. I love to lay out in the sun. I hate the rain but I love playing in puddles. I perk up for these words: hungry, walk, car ride, treat, and Conan O'Brien (I know, weird). I know basic obedience commands like sit, down, stay, come, leave it, take it, and watch me. I'm very tall for a girl and I weigh about 80 lbs. I could stand to lose a few lbs, but it's been difficult to watch my girlish figure since I started taking the medication and my appetite has increased.  I'm on Interceptor for heartworms and Frontline for fleas and ticks. I'm spayed, up to date on vaccinations, crate trained and I've lived inside my entire life, so I'm house trained as well. While my parents are going to miss me tons, they know I can adapt well because I absolutely love people. I don't even need time to warm up - I love them immediately. I live with another Weim, so that's what I'm used to, but I could stand to be an only dog as well. I need time to warm up to unfamiliar dogs and I'm not sure about cats. I've been pretty good with the new baby, but I prefer kids who are old enough to know not to pull my ears and how to give me treats. I am in the Louisville area. I hope to meet my forever home soon!

Heidi
Hello!  My name is Heidi.  My middle name is Wiggles.  That's because I'm such a happy girl, it's what I do all the time!  I am a 3 year old, silver Weim, and I weigh 63 pounds.  My foster Mom says I have a beautiful stance.  I don't know what that means, but I'm pretty sure I look good doing it!  I love to cuddle, and really want to find a family that has lots of time to spend with me.  I'm very good with children, and I like playing with other dogs. I do get a little snippy with other dogs at eating time so I am put in another part of the house while our food is being made.  I think cats are fun to bark at and chase so I guess I should not be placed with them.  I do get on the counters sometimes, but I just want to see what is up there! I am spayed and up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, on Frontline for fleas and ticks, and Interceptor for heartworms. I am crate trained, but have been staying out in the house while my foster parents are gone to work. I do have to tell you that I have allergies on my feet. My foster mom took me to the animal dermatologist in Louisville to get this evaluated. I am currently on 5 medications and my foster mom puts lotion on my feet every night. I am really good when people touch my feet. I laid down in the vet’s office and let them scrape my feet! The vet said he found bacteria on my paws but no mites (thank goodness, I wouldn’t want little creatures running around my feet!).  My blood work came back normal. The cultures showed that I had several bacteria, one of which was a resistant Staph intermedius. Now I am not sure what that means, but the vet seems to think I will be better soon. I take my medications with canned dog food; I eat it off a spoon! My foster mom says that the vet specialist said I may or may not have to be on a medication the rest of my life. It depends. I need a family who understands these things, and will be willing to help me with this issue. I promise to give you boundless love in return.  I am being fostered in the Louisville area.

Deidre
Hello, my name is Deidre.  I'm a six year old blue female, and I'd love to meet you.  For a Weim, I'm a pretty small girl that's getting smaller by the minute.  Right now, I'm on what my foster dad says is a diet, but my foster mom calls a lifestyle change!  My original human could not keep me because he was moving, so now I am staying with a foster sister and a couple of enticing cats (and some humans, of course).  Funny, I haven't seen the cats in a while.  Maybe it has something to do with how I chased them around the house the first night I was here.  Hey, I can't help that I have a strong prey drive!  Overall, though, I'm a pretty calm and relaxed girl.  I was staying with another nice foster family, but their female dog and I were like oil and water.  Man, have you ever met her!?!  Well, my current foster sister and I get along like two peas in a lazy pod.  She's a Weim, too and we're both pretty mellow dogs that hang out together just fine.  During the day, I snooze in my crate and at night, I stay in my foster parent's bedroom with my foster sister.  Everyone says I have excellent house manners - I'm really good about remembering to only go potty outside, and I leave all the stuff in the house just like I found it.  I even know what some human words mean.  I know what to do when you say "sit", "down", "come", and "wait".  I'm friendly to everyone I meet, including small humans (aka, "kids").  My foster parents say I'm a really good girl and an even better companion.  I'd do well in a new home with or without other dogs, but I'd really prefer not to have any future brother or sisters that would try to boss me around - see above comment about my previous foster sister!  I love rawhides, car rides, walks around the block, and generally being by your side.  I'm also discovering just how much I love walking in the woods!  By the way, I'm spayed, up to date on my shots, and micro chipped.  I'm a sweet, calm girl that would just love a new forever home.  Please come visit me in Columbus, OH.

Shawnee
Hi there!  My name is Shawnee, and I was named after the town in which I found was running around homeless.  I am a medium-sized boy and weigh 66 pounds, but the nice lady in the white coat says I need to gain about 5-10 pounds.  I think that's great since I get to eat much more than my big brother and sister.  The nice lady also says I'm 2 years old, but I act much younger than that.  I'm also quite proud of my long tail.  Yup, that's right, my tail isn't cropped.  I think I'm the envy of all the Weims I've met so far!  But don't worry, it's not very big - I haven't managed to clear any coffee tables yet, but it does show you just how happy I am to meet you!  Thump, thump, thump.  I am neutered and have had all my vaccinations plus a microchip in case I get lost again.  My foster family thinks I'm a very sweet and charming fellow.  I get along really well with my big Weim brother and sister, and my brother even plays with me sometimes.  I can't help it that I have lots of energy to play!  My house etiquette has greatly improved since I first came to rescue -- I am now housebroken and know pretty well which toys are mine and which things I should leave alone.  Also, strange sounds don't bother me a bit.  I'm even curious about the vacuum, but my foster brother and sister run for the hills when it comes out.  I can stay in a crate at night, but only if someone sleeps in the same bedroom with me . . . or if I get so tuckered out from playing all day that I'm too tired to notice!  Most of the time, I sleep on a dog bed in my parent's bedroom.  I'm pretty good now about being left without any humans around, although it's really good to have Weim siblings in the house with me.  Their crate is right next to mine and I like that.  I love everyone I meet - big humans, little humans, dogs, and cats.  Okay, I don't "love" cats - they're weird, but I leave them alone.  I let the two year old down the street roll on me and pet my ears and I give her plenty of thank you kisses.  She watches for me now on our walks.  I really love dog parks.  I get to meet so many nice people, and the dogs are great to play with!  I love the couch, the backyard hammock, the cozy spot in the garden next to the tomatoes, the grass under the shady tree - all are great places to snooze and hang out with my foster family after a good romp.  I just love being around people.  I'm learning new human words every day.  Now I understand what to do when they say things like "sit", "come", and "wait".  I think I'm a pretty smart boy - I can't wait to learn more things.  I also can't wait for my new forever home.  I promise I would love everyone in my new family like crazy -- especially the little humans and dog siblings!  Don't tell my foster parents, but they are my favorites.  If you're looking for a fun-loving, loyal, playful, (and did I mention, charming?) boy, LOOK NO FURTHER!  Please come visit me in Columbus, OH.

Merlin
Hello, my name is Merlin. I’m a 4 year old silver Weim.  I’m a little on the skinny side at the moment, but my foster mom says we are working on putting a few more pounds on me.  I live with my 3 foster sisters and 1 brother and boy do we have a blast!  I love to run and play fetch with them as well as the human brother that lives here.  I don’t seem to have much interest in the cat or farm animals. I’m more interested in playing than chasing them.  I stay in a crate during the day but sleep by the bed at night. My mom says I’m a mellow boy compared to the others.  I like to curl up on the couch and watch TV with you.  I know sit, shake, stay and no bark. I come back when called and do great off the leash. I’m current on my vaccines, heartworm preventative and Frontline.  My mom says we are going to get me neutered before going to my forever home.  If you are looking for an all around good guy, then I’m your man!  If you would like to visit me, I’m being fostered in Bloomington, IN.  I hope to see you soon. **Adoption Pending**

Shadow
I’m Shadow, and I’m a very sweet 3-year-old guy!  I’m not interested in the cats in the barn, I like to play with my foster siblings (2-legged and 4-legged), and I am out to destroy every stuffed animal I come across.  I like to bring my mom a soppy wet, slobbery piece of a stuffed animal so she’ll throw it for me.  I like to play fetch, but sometimes I just run past the object and look at you as if to say, "You get it, YOU threw it!”    I’m pretty easygoing, and don’t get riled about much.  I think I’m a lapdog, and will dominate any couch I’m on.  I’m an average sized Weim - not very big, but not petite either.  I love to give and get kisses!  When I kiss you on your chin, I usually give grooming nibbles at the same time, so the faint of heart need not apply.  I get a little pushy with excitement with treats, and you have to remind me to take them gently.  I understand Sit, but won't hold the position for long!  I do well on a lead and I’m housetrained.  I eat in my crate, and I sleep in there if my humans will be gone for long.  Someone said I like to chew shoes and pillows, but mom has only seen me carry these items around.  She doesn’t give me time to squirrel them away somewhere and go to town on them!  Oh yeah, I am neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and started on preventative and micro chipped.  I am being fostered in Williams IN.

Molly

Hi, my name is Molly, and you have never met a sweeter girl than me!  My foster mom picked me up from a family whose kids were involved in too many activities, and no one had time for me anymore.  After living my whole 7-year life with them, I felt I should have moved some steps up the family’s priority ladder, but I guess not!   Fortunately, I have found lots of love with my foster family, and the two-legged people actually play with and walk me.  My young two-legged foster brother loves my kisses, and he squeals with delight when I surprise him with one.  This is what being a family pet is all about!  I really enjoy playing with my four-legged foster sister, and think having a smaller buddy at my forever home would be beneficial for me.  Two years ago I partially tore my ACL, but I can still run and play like all the other dogs.  Sometimes my leg gets stiff and a little painful, so I’m taking anti-inflammatory medicine to help me feel more comfortable.  I am a good girl who sleeps next to my foster parents’ bed at night, and have proven my trustworthiness while my foster family is gone during the day.  I have not messed the house once, isn’t that remarkable?  I am sort of behind in the English words that I know, but I just need someone willing to teach me these things – I catch on fast!  There are two cats here that are very different – the male cat and I get along very well, but the female cat must be defending her territory because she hisses a lot. I am spayed, up to date on my vaccinations, micro chipped, and living in Jeffersonville IN.  Wanna meet me?

Caesar

Hello. My name is Caesar, and I am two years old . I was owner-surrendered to animal control, and a really nice lady there called LWR, then took me home with her until my foster mom could come and get me. I had a bad respiratory infection, and wouldn’t eat or drink, so I am really thin, but after a few trips to the vet I’m on the mend. My appetite and energy are back, so I should be myself again in no time. My foster mom says that I am a sweetheart and a real gentleman. I politely ask before entering a new room or getting on the furniture, and sit patiently for snacks or toys. I am house trained, and I tolerate being in a crate, but I prefer being left free to roam the house while you are away, and being the gentleman that I am, my foster mom has had no problems leaving me. I do have one bad habit, and that is why my owners couldn’t keep me--I like to escape. I will run out the front door if I get the chance, and I will climb or jump small fences. My foster mom has a six foot fence, and that one I busted through. She knows where to look for me though; I’ll be politely waiting at the front door. I just want to be with my people. I am an angel if you are in the yard with me or if the door is open so I can come back inside when I want. Obviously, I can not be left unattended outside, which suits me just fine. But enough about that, lets focus on my charming personality. I like to lie on the couch with my head on my foster mom’s lap and watch TV. I love playing ball in the yard, and I can catch a frisbee. I think that I would make a great disc dog, and it would be great if my forever home wanted to help me train. I am very focused and eager to learn. There are turtles and bunnies and a snake at my foster home, and although I am curious about them, I seem to be fine as long as they are in their cages. I’d probably be fine with small pets, just remember I am a hunter by nature. I have two foster sisters, and one is a Weim like me. I get along well with both of them, but I prefer to spend my time with the humans in the house. I do really like them being around when the family is gone, it keeps me from getting lonely. I would love to be in a home with other dogs, and would do best with a buddy to keep me company while you are gone. Ok, it’s out, I am a bit of an attention hog. I just love to be with people…I’m a social guy.
If you would like to be my forever home, I would love to meet you. I am current on my vaccinations, heart worm negative, micro chipped and neutered.  I am being fostered south of Indianapolis IN.

Zach
Hi, my name is Zach.  I am a five year old male Weimaraner.  All the basics are covered on me.  I've been neutered, micro chipped, had all my vaccinations, am currently on heart worm preventative, and I'm potty trained.  I'm glad we got all that out of the way. I also know some basic training behaviors such as sit, lay, and stay.  I am one well-behaved guy!  I am crate trained, but to be honest with you, I'm not that fond of it.  I should also mention that I'm not terribly fond of cats either.  I hope that you don't think badly of me and can appreciate my honesty.  Even though I'm not that fond of cats, I am a team player when it comes to hanging out with other dogs and family members. I would like to live with another dog(s) at my new home.  I sleep on a BIG dog pillow every night at the foot of my foster parents' bed.  Maybe now is a good time to mention that the reason that it is a BIG dog pillow, is because I am a BIG guy.  You could say that I am a bit of a "chunky monkey."  I can assure you that I have been on a wellness program since I have moved into my foster home, and have lost a few pounds.  Hopefully you can be understanding enough to look beyond my small weight condition and see the sweet, loving, great dog that I am.  Please come and see me in northern Indiana, maybe even hug and kiss me, and you'll see how special I can be.

My name is Winston, and I'm a really great guy to have around the house! I'm 8 years old, neutered, heartworm negative and up-to-date on all my shots. For some reason my owners had to surrender me to a shelter, but I've been happy in my foster home. My foster mom (FM) is my favorite, but I love to play with all the other weim siblings I have here, plus my 10-year-old human sibling. He's a blast - he throws sticks and balls and I run run RUN until I can't even walk. That kid wears me out until I just have to lie down in the grass and scratch my back. I'm a little on the skinny side, but FM feeds me well (I know I'm not wormy 'cause she took me to the doctor who did the unspeakable and, well, you know the rest.) I'm just a slow gainer, they say. I get fed in a crate, but I don't have to sleep in one at night. I like to share FM's bed, but the alpha male is usually there, and we have words, then FM really has WORDS with both of us. I'm house-trained, and will ring a bell on the doorknob to let my foster folks know I need to go out. I get a little overly assertive if another dog gets near my FM. Like I said, she's my favorite. The only one I don't mind being near her is the Chihuahua, and that's 'cause that little dog would chew my legs to nubs if given the chance. She keeps us all in line. I don't really care much about cats. I tend to ignore them, but if they want to get too friendly with me and rub all over me, then I try to scare them away. My FM thinks that I would do really great in a place with a nice yard and someone to throw sticks and balls for me. I like my couch time (I am 8 after all) but I also like my play time. My former family did some hunt training with me because I understand "HUNT" and "GIT THAT BIRD" and will point at any bird on the ground. I know sit and stay and here. I am a very good boy, but I don't like to share the affection with others. Based on this, maybe I should go to a home where I'm the only big dog. If you've got room for me, a few tennis balls and some sticksm and a mean throwing arm, look me up!! I’m being fostered in W. Paducah KY (with Donna).

Hi, my name is Donna, and I'm a three-year old Weimaraner mix. I’m a little on the small side as I weigh only around 40lbs. My tail isn't docked, and I still have my dewclaws. My chest is white, and I have some lighter fur along my back, but otherwise I look like a small Weim. My head and eyes are definitely Weim. Someone took me to a kill-shelter while I was pregnant, and a very nice man took me home and fostered me until I had my puppies. He had me spayed and took me to a different shelter where they don't euthanize healthy, happy pups like myself. The shelter was really really crowded so they called the Rescue and here I am! The lady at the shelter called me Donna, but mom calls me Sugar since I'm so sweet, and sometimes she calls me Sissy when she's calling all of us and can't get everyone's names out right!! I'm being fostered by a family with a 2 legged child and 5 other Weimie-looking siblings, and I love it! We all have the run of this place and it's big and has horses, goats, cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens everywhere! There are barn cats everywhere too, but I'm just curious about them. I don't go after them or the chickens so mom says I'm a very good girl. I'm working on improving my housetraining, but I have poop-cidents inside. I'm a very shy girl who tries to be a wallflower and stay under the radar, so mom doesn't always notice when I need to potty. If you talk to me, I roll over and give you my belly. I'm very tenderhearted. I'm fed in a crate and I sleep in a crate, but otherwise I get to play outside or roam the house with the others. The foster family knows to put all shoes away now; I've been caught red-lipped chewing on shoes. No damage done since they caught me right away, but I will chew them if I can get them. Also I like to hide their shoes they leave on the porch and watch them try to find them at night. This is a really fun game that I play with my 2-legged foster brother and his friends. Their shoes are usually muddy and so they leave them on the porch for me to hide!!!! I get along well with everyone so I think I would be a great addition to any family. If you want a sweet dog who's spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and just overall very lovely, then please consider me. I try hard to please! I’m being fostered in W. Paducah KY (with Winston).
